Video Walls

As the name suggest, video walls refer to the compactly placed arrangements of displays that enable one to watch larger than life picture from a fair amount of distance. These walls have traditionally found usage in entertainment, surveillance, and Control and Monitoring applications. The display technologies generally include projection screens, DLP tiles, LED arrays, LCD panels. The screens used in larger displays are flat and provide better picture clarity. To reduce the spacing between display areas, thee screens come with narrow bezels. The screens usually come with necessary hardware equipments that can compactly hold the different screens together in one giant formation that gives an impression of one big screen. Special in built video  processors come with wall displays that control how the video will be rendered on the screen. However, if the plain LCD screens are used, then using computer operating systems, the rendering of the video can be controlled. Almost all the popular operating systems provide support for wall display and the feature is included as a standard feature. Computer based wall displays usually include two monitors or four monitor displays.

Video walls are being used for many reasons depending upon the type of applications as they are used for. If you take the entertainment and the media industry, the wall displays serve to enhance the movie watching experience. They can also be effectively used in displaying advertisement on busy crossroads. Control and monitoring systems can’t do without them. Wall displays are an essential part of these systems as they enable the engineers to have a complete look on the whole computerized process in one go. Examples include traffic control system. Other common usage is gaming. However, for gaming two monitors display or a four monitor display is usually considered enough.
